Easy Ways To Improve Your Nutrition Starting Today

Good nutrition is an important aspect of living a happy and healthy life. It is the foundation for your body to have the various nutrients necessary for energy, rest, and a sharp mind. There are many simple ways to incorporate good nutrition into your lifestyle to help you maintain a high level of activity.

Protein is a crucial part of your diet and many people don't consume enough. The best form of protein is lean, red meat, like steak. Chicken and pork are also good sources. Protein makes you feel full and aids the growth of muscle in your body, making it one of the most important nutrients to consume during any diet.

When you make a salad be sure that the majority of your salad is leafy greens and foods like celery and mushrooms. This is a good idea because these type of foods contain nothing but vitamins and water. You can eat as much of them as you want and not worry about any added fat or calories.

You should limit the amount of sodas that you drink per day. Many people do not like to drink water because they claim that it does not taste good. There are mixes that can be added to water or fresh fruit can be added to give it the taste that someone craves without added preservatives that their body does not need.

You should buy and eat foods that you can still identify what they are. Foods that have been processed to oblivion are not healthy and are not good for you to eat. You should eat foods in their simplest form such as raw broccoli, bananas and rice that has not been overly processed.

What is wellness

Make sure to add foods rich in choline to your nutritional, pregnancy diet, in order to boost fetal brain development. When you are pregnant, your reserve of choline is used up quickly, so it is especially important to include eggs in your daily nutrition routine. It is important to prepare the whole egg because the choline is found in the yolk.

Switch to natural, unrefined sea salt. Most table salt has been heat processed to remove beneficial trace minerals and bleached to produce a bright white color. Not only that, but it often contains anti-caking agents and sugar as well. Natural, unrefined sea salt, on the other hand, is taken directly from the earth and is sold with the beneficial trace minerals intact. Unlike bleached, processed table salt which has been shown to raise blood pressure, unrefined sea salt has actually been shown to lower blood pressure by providing your body with the trace minerals that it needs. Not only that, but it tastes great too.

If you are pregnant the only vitamins that you should be taking are those that were recommended to you by a physician. Do not try to take vitamin supplements on your own because they may contain too much of vitamins that you do not need, which can harm you or the baby.

Curb winter food cravings and overeating. The combination of the holiday season and the fact that we spend a lot of time indoors in the winter, makes it very easy to binge on food that is less than nutritious. Make sure that you balance out all the sweets and treats that you eat at holiday gatherings with fresh fruit and veggies, and high fiber foods. Stock your refrigerator with healthy snacks, and aim for the fruit plate at parties.

Decrease your red meat intake. Opting for fish instead of red meat gives you some of the same nutrients, but also adds in healthy fish oils that your body would not otherwise have. You will also consume much less unhealthy fat. You can also opt for white meats if you dislike fish.

Do not miss your semi-annual cleanings and exams. These exams ensure that you can are informed about all of the things going on with your body. If you are a woman, it is important that you frequently give yourself personal breast examinations so you can catch cancer before it gets you.

Wellness

Don't be afraid of the doctor, get a checkup yearly! Your health and wellness are the most important things in your life, so it's important to be proactive about them. Get an annual checkup and talk with your doctor about your current nutritional habits and whether there are things the doctor would recommend. Being proactive now can add years to your life!

Save your used drink bottles, fill them with water and freeze them. Having water available to quench your thirst is imperative to good health. Frozen water bottles will likely stay cool all day and an added wellness benefit, is that they are handy to grab to wet down a wipe and cool yourself off on hot days.

As you can see, good nutrition is easy to integrate into your daily meals, ensuring that you have the vitamins and minerals your body craves. Take care of yourself today and in the years to come by making nutritious consumption a regular part of your routine. You deserve the best nutrition every day so you can obtain wellness for yourself.

Do You Need Alcohol Addiction Treatment

Needing alcohol addiction treatment is nothing to be ashamed of. There are millions of people affected by alcohol addiction worldwide. Alcohol rehab programs are available at alcohol drug and treatment centers in your area.

How Does Alcohol Addiction Treatment Work?

Alcohol addiction treatment doesn’t just treat alcoholism. It treats the underlying cause of alcoholism.

Sometimes an alcohol rehab center will simply get you clean. You’ll go through a systematic program, and then you’ll be released after one to three months.

While this method works for some people, it doesn’t work for everyone. You cannot successfully treat your addiction until you know what’s causing it in the first place.

During alcohol addiction treatment it’s important for you to discover what is making you turn to drinking to solve your problems. This reason is different for everyone. It could be emotional, mental or physical.

After you figure out the reason, you need to start working on it immediately. Helping to deal with the root problem will help you work towards getting over your addiction completely.

What You Should Look For in Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers

When looking through alcohol and drug treatment centers, it’s important to find one that will offer a personalised program that works for you. Everyone doesn’t respond to typical treatment.

Consider, too, that you are a unique individual. You need a unique treatment program that is going to work for you.

Having staff on hand that understand your addiction also helps. They understand where you are now, and can help you through your struggles better than someone who hasn’t experienced it.

Look for testimonials from successfully treated clients and a warm and friendly staff. You want your treatment center to be somewhere you can comfortably spend an extended amount of time at.

How to Make Alcohol Rehab Work for You

After you finish alcohol rehab, you need to prepare to take what you’ve learned and apply it to your new life. You probably shouldn’t go into rehab until you are ready to make a drastic change.

Remember what you’ve learned about yourself while you’re there. Rehab can be emotionally and mentally draining, but there are techniques that can help you cope and not relapse. Those techniques, combined with what you’ve discovered about yourself and perseverance should help keep you on the road to recovery.
The Sensatori Wellness and Treatment center offers a holistic approach to treating addictions, diseases and disorders. Our approach is well researched, and has been honed by years of professional research and execution.  Our team members have personal experiences with eating disorders, depression and addiction. We know what works.

Reduced Salt And Slim Diet

The Rice Diet was established in 1934 by Dr. Walter Kempner, a medical professional at Duke University hospital who treated clients with malignant hypertension which is very hypertension in addition to renal illness. When there was no other treatment readily available, he started managing them with what came to be understood as the Rice Diet.

He offered clients a bowl of white rice at every meal. The rice diet plan is basically a very low salt diet plan. No salt is enabled to be contributed to any food. The reduced fat content of the diet also improves success for these individuals who had significant medical conditions that no other treatment could possibly cure.

Today, the rice diet remains to be provided as an outpatient program with the Rice Diet Clinic in Durham, NC. The exact same low sodium reduced fat diet plan philosophy is abided by. Clients concern Durham today with conditions like morbid obesity, heart problem, high blood pressure, diabetes, congestive heart failure and kidney condition and find hope.

The common American diet plan gives you 4000 to 7000 mg. When you go on the rice diet plan, you begin to feel much better immediately since you get rid of the extra salt and water you are carrying around. Salt makes you feel bad.

Patients at the Rice Diet Clinic are seen everyday by medical personnel. They have 3 meals a day at the Rice House and go to everyday activities of anxiety management, yoga, group therapy, and dietary lectures.

The clinic provides a way of life program with a safe and supporting atmosphere which motivates profound changes resulting in life time health in the clients who come. More than merely consuming three healthy meals a day, The Rice Diet Program offers progressive courses and workshops lead by medical careers.

People attending the clinic have typically been incapable to work out for a long times as a result of their conditions. At the clinic, they find a supporting environment to reengage with movement. Yoga and Tai'Chi courses are provided daily. Many participants consume walking while at the Rice Diet Clinic.

The meals at the Rice Diet Clinic are differed. For the first few days, the menu is restricted. Afterwards, clients pick from a big choice of items including fresh vegetables and fruits, grains, fish, and beans. The menu option changes daily to ensure range. Regardless of the name, Rice is not the center of the menu. While a many rices are served, they are simply part of the numerous (30 plus) products readily available at any type of meal.

The Rice Diet Program at the Durham Clinic takes 4 to 8 weeks to finish. The 4 week program is $5900 for the program charge and 21 meals weekly. Participants organize their very own real estate with the assistance of the clinic.

The rice diet is essentially a very reasonable salt diet plan. Today, the rice diet continues to be offered as an outpatient program with the Rice Diet Clinic in Durham, NC. When you go on the rice diet plan, you begin to feel better immediately since you get rid of the added salt and water you are holding around. The meals at the Rice Diet Clinic are differed. The Rice Diet Program at the Durham Clinic takes 4 to 8 weeks to complete.

Tips for Planning a Healthy Diet

Healthy eating is the foundation of a healthy and long life. People who eat healthy are strong, and are resistant to common illnesses like cold and cough. Eating healthy is not as difficult as what many people think. It all starts with planning your diet. Think about your current diet, and what can make it healthier.

How to Choose a Healthy Diet

Healthy eating begins with choosing a healthy diet. Choose healthy foods that you love eating, and ensure that your choices make up a balanced diet.

A balanced diet consists of fruits and vegetables, vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates. Identifying foods that you love is very important because it helps you not to give up on your healthy eating plan. If you choose foods that you don’t like, you will get bored and give up. So start with what you love and slowly learn new foods.

Plan a daily timetable for breakfast, lunch and supper. This timetable will help you prepare in advance – the food preparations you need every day, and the time and money needed for acquiring and preparing your meal.

Ensure that you use fresh food every time you prepare your meals. Fresh food has much more nutrients than foods that have been preserved or processed.

Healthy Eating Habits

You can develop healthy eating habits just like any other thing in life. No one is born with a healthy eating habit; these habits are developed and nurtured. It therefore takes energy and effort to become a healthy eater.

Never think that food is something you can just pick at the store or on the roadside. If you want to be healthier, you must choose and consequently eat a variety of balanced diet foods.

Then nurture your eating habits gradually;

Enjoy chewing your foods: Do not be in a hurry to swallow your food. Take time and feel the flavor of your food and its texture as well. Chew every bit of food that gets to your mouth. These will cause you to enjoy eating your food and also help you avoid mindless overeating.

Eat together with other people: This has both emotional and social benefit to your health. You will find it enjoyable when you eat while others are eating. This also encourages you to eat enough, especially when eating foods that you are not used to.

Top 5 Benefits of Peppermint Tea

Peppermint tea is certainly a tasty treat, and the real good news is that the health benefits to your body are as good as the taste. It is still being debated whether peppermint tea is an official cancer fighter, but the many health benefits of peppermint tea are well known and could contribute to better long-term health including warding off the worst diseases.

1. Peppermint tea aids digestion.

Sluggish digestion is responsible for many illnesses in America including colon cancer, which will kill 40,000 Americans this year. In addition, 150,000 new cases will be diagnosed. When digestion slows, toxins form waste that can’t be eliminated and end up getting absorbed back into your body. Peppermint is among the powerful herbs that helps digestion speed up so waste can be eliminated sooner.

2. Help for irritable bowel syndrome, or IBS, is something more and more people need.

IBS is another symptom of colon disorder that creates open sores in the lower colon and causes, frequent, incomplete bathroom trips. Peppermint capsules have been shown to treat the illness for quite some time, and it is now being found that regular consumption of peppermint tea can help keep a person more regular.

3. Peppermint is also an excellent natural sleep aid.

It settles your stomach and helps your whole body balance and relax. A cup before bed means a better night’s sleep. Better sleep means the body can do more to repair damaged cells and it also means you’ll have more energy to conquer the day ahead without using up your reserves.

4. How does peppermint help a cold go away faster?

It’s been shown that peppermint can help the body kill viruses. It is also known to help with the fight against different bacteria. Peppermint is also a natural relaxant that numbs the body. A touch of relaxed numbness can help you get to sleep at night, and nothing fights a cold quite like a good night’s sleep.

5. Other health benefits of peppermint tea include reduction of inflammation of various tissues from the colon, to joints and even the prostate gland, as well as inflammation that is symptomatic of tuberculosis. Peppermint tea’s anti-inflammatory properties also help curb many skin disorders.

While the health benefits of peppermint tea don’t officially include cancer-fighting, recent studies show peppermint has had a consistent, positive effect on reducing tumors. The power of peppermint tea is still being discovered. In the meantime, it is already helping millions sleep better at night.

Attention Media Buyers: Welcome To The 1st Ever Conversion-crushing Vsl For The Mass Market Of Yoga And Weight Loss.
Since the advent of dietary supplements, quick fixes and fast weight loss programs, people have been going crazy over any weight loss pill that claims to lose shed pounds in a short time. While there are several best diet pills out there for promoting weight loss, not all of them are good for the health. Before you start the regimen with any of the supplement, it is best to analyze its benefits, side effects, cost, ingredients and manufacturer. Moreover, a person should consult his healthcare practitioner and follow their advice. Weight loss supplements have several mechanisms of actions. Most of them have a tendency to speed up the body's metabolism. Due to the boost in metabolic rate, more calories are lost with lesser effort. Alongside affecting the metabolic rate, the supplements have the ability to suppress the appetite which causes the individuals to eat less. Some of them bind to carbohydrates, inhibit enzymes that participate in fat production, burn up the large amount of fat stored in adipose tissues and bring the hormones to a balanced state. There is no harm in taking a weight loss pill, but as we mentioned above, it is rather tricky to find the best diet pills in the sea of supplements.

Latest Craze in the Weight Loss Market

Supplement and extracts that are making waves in the market are usually made up of green coffee bean, large amounts of caffeine, Hoodia, orlistat and phentermine. However, they are very strong substances that often cause unpleasing and embarrassing side effects such as cramping, flatulence, oily diarrhea, paranoia, increased blood pressure, numbing and tingling. For weight loss, natural substances are the best. There is an extract in the market called Garcinia Cambogia that is produced from a tropical plant with little to no side effects.

Garcinia Cambogia to Boost Your Metabolism

If you keep up with the latest news, then you can't have missed the weight loss supplement Garcinia Cambogia. Garcinia Cambogia is derived from a tropical plant called garcinia gummi gutta native to Indonesia. Its fruit is known as Malabar tamarind or brindle berry. The extract of the fruit possesses the properties for weight loss. The extract of Garcinia Cambogia is a derivative of citric acid called hydroxycitric acid. Hydroxycitric acid inhibits the formation of fat in the body by blocking citrate lyase, an enzyme that catalyzes the production of fat. It also acts an anti-suppressant by reducing cortisol levels in the body. Other benefits include:

It increases the release of serotonin promoting the state of well being and contentment.

It helps to maintain a healthy bowel movement.

Garcinia Cambogia prevents heart diseases by optimizing the levels of cholesterol in the blood.

It can help to treat infections caused by parasites.

Adverse effects caused by Garcinia Cambogia are minor including occasional headache, dizziness and nausea. You can purchase Garcinia Cambogia on Amazon and several other online stores. It is important that you buy the supplement from a credible manufacturer. The supplements should have 50% hydroxycitric acid for fast weight loss.

Moisturizing Body Lotion The Secret to Fine Attractive Skin

Moisturizing body lotion is not a new phenomenon - they have been around for as long as I can remember but like everything else, our familiarity with them means we soon forget they hold one of the secrets to having soft, radiant, beautiful skin.

Soft Beautiful Skin - It Is No Accident
Having beautiful and soft skin is no accident, like the saying goes - there is 'a science to the madness'.
When we come across friends or colleagues who experience skin problems like eczema, dermatitis or even just dry itchy skin, it soon dawns on us that soft beautiful skin should not be taken for granted. We need a good moisturizer for beautiful skin and choosing the right one is key.

Choose the lotion that is right for you
You must use a moisturizing body lotion as part of your daily routine if you are looking to improve the condition of your skin and get it beautiful and soft.
There are different lotions out there that are crafted to cater for different skin types, so it goes without saying, that if you use a lotion that does not cater for your specific needs, you will not get the maximum benefit from it and your skin will not achieve its the best possible state of softness and beauty.

Different Needs For Different Skin Types
Lots of people wrongly choose body lotions because they look attractive on the shelves of their local convenience store, while some others select theirs because they are 'prominent'.
However, the 'popular' and 'attractive looking' lotions may not suit your skin type.
In my experience, starting the selection operation based on your particular skin type as well as any predisposing conditions your skin may have has worked best with my clients.
For example, if you have dry allergy prone skin, you will need a different body lotion to someone with oily acne prone skin. There is an element of trial and error involved here so do not be afraid to experiment.

Stack the odds in your favor.
Having said that, you can do a lot to stack the odds in your favor by doing a bit of research before committing your hard earned cash to a purchase.
Opting for a body lotion that is made from natural ingredients is more likely to get you the desired result of improving your skin.
Lotions that contain ingredients like Aloe Vera, Shea Butter, Olive oil, Castor oil and Emu oil are a handful that come to mind. They are well known for the moisturizing, nourishing and other valuable properties that they give to the skin.
The reasoning behind this idea is that products that closely resemble nature in their contents are less likely to have the unwanted side effects that their chemical based counterparts deliver.

What is the largest fruit on Earth

If you didn't know, jackfruit is the largest fruit you can find.
It has many health benefits and you have probably never heard of this fruit.
That is no surprise because it only grows in tropical areas where there is lot of humidity and warmth.
You can find it in India, Vietnam, or similar counties.
If you plan to visit one of those counties in the near future, remember this fruit and try it.
If you want, you can even buy it in America. For that, you will have to go to Indian market to get the fresh and ripe jackfruit.
If you do not have that kind of market in you neighborhood, you can buy it in the store.
You won't get the whole fruit, but you will get jackfruit in cans.
That is not as good as the fruit itself, but it can give you an idea of what it tastes like.
There are many jackfruit health benefits, and you should really try this fruit.
It has many fibers which means it is good for you digestion.
We are eating too much fast food and not thinking about our health.
Jackfruit can help us in that.
It contains many antioxidants, which are responsible for destroying free radicals.
Free radicals are responsible for damaging our cells, which means free radicals can cause cancer.
Among other things, jackfruit is good for anemia, for your cardiovascular health, for your skin, and for your general health.
Be smart, and start eating what is right for you.
If you want to buy this fruit, you need to choose a ripe one.
When you get it home, put it on the table just to see how big it is.
It is best that you cut it in 4 pieces so you can handle it easier.
Next, you need to remove the stuff that you do not want to eat.
That is pretty much everything.
The middle part of the fruit is not edible.
You need to dig for seeds and remove them as well.
If you want, you can cook them, and eat them later.
The good parts of jackfruit are the orange bits.
There are lots of recipes that include jackfruit. Some people even make ice cream from jackfruit and they tell me it is delicious.
I know that it is large, that it is ugly, but you need to push pass it's looks and color.
Some people say that is has a similar taste like a piece of meat.
I know that even vegetarians can eat it.
If you want to use the whole fruit, you can cook it's seeds and eat them as well.
They taste like potatoes.
Some people say that you should not consume this fruit while you are pregnant.
I do not know why is that, but i have read that many pregnant women consumed this fruit while they were pregnant and everything was good.
If you are not sure if you can eat something while you are pregnant, them it is best that you contact your doctor before eating or drinking anything.
Some say that eating this fruit is even good if you have diabetes or if you want to protect yourself from getting diabetes.
It controls blood sugars levels, so you have reduced chance of getting diabetes.
If you are concerned about your weight, you can relax, because jackfruit is great fro that.
It contains no fat, so you can eat it, and not be worried about how much calories you enter in your body.

Average jackfruit has only 90 calories.
There are also many varieties of this fruit, but you do not need to be concerned abut that.
Buy the one you like, and you won't be disappointed.

Bowel Movements and Holistic Breast Health

Breast Cancer has become a major concern of today's women. That concern is brought about by the fact that most of us know or know of someone who has contracted this infamous disease. It is a major offender to women's health but there's a lot that can be done to reduce the risk of contracting this disease.

Fibrocystic Breast Disease is one of risk factors for breast cancer. It is, however, not as predominant as some of the more prominent breast cancer risk factors like early periods, family history, and late pregnancy. It does, however, bring about an increased risk and is one of the reasons why women undergo mammograms since the lumps of Fibrocystic Breast Disease are not easily distinguished from those of Breast Cancer.

Women who consume a low fiber diet and who suffer from frequent constipation are prime candidates for breast disease ( Breast Cancer or Fibrocystic Breast Disease ).

In a recent study, scientists revealed some startling facts. There was a significant association between abnormal breast cell structure and the frequency of bowel movements. A woman who had less than three bowel movements a week was in significant danger of contracting Fibrocystic Breast Disease. A woman who had daily bowel movements was in significantly less danger of the disease. This is undoubtedly due to the absorption of toxins from the stagnant fecal matter.

The best way to eliminate this situation is to keep things moving in your digestive tract. And the best way to do that is to consume high fiver organic foods or take fiber supplements.. Some of the high fiber foods are raw organic fruits (especially apples) and vegetables. Women who are vegetarians emit two to three times more estrogen's than women who are non vegetarians. Also, non vegetarian women have a 50% higher standard level of free estrogen which was reabsorbed from her intestinal tract. This difference is undoubtedly the result of the omnivorous woman's eating habits resulting in her consumption of less fiber than the vegetarian woman.

A higher intake of fiber, through diet or supplements, can result in more favorable intestinal flora. If you are concerned about Breast Cancer or Fibrocystic Breast Disease, taking a fiber supplement, consuming high fiber raw fruits and vegetables, or taking a probiotic or fiber supplement to enhance bowel function is highly recommended.

So it seems as if consuming high fiber and probiotics can be the key to keeping your bowels moving on a regular basis.. And that translates into a natural form of breast health. And to make things even better, a healthy digestive tract prevents a host of other diseases like Colon Cancer and the suppression of a well functioning immune system.
Breast Cancer presents a serious threat to women's health but, as you well know, there are numerous other threats like Heart Disease, Lupus, Fibromyalgia and numerous others. Some are life threatening and others make your quality of life extremely poor.

Elimination Diets

Have you ever gone through the rigor of an elimination diet to see if there are foods in your diet that are causing unpleasant symptoms? Many of us have, or at the very least thought about it. The classic Elimination Diet is still the gold standard for uncovering food sensitivities. It was originally invented and popularized by Dr. Albert Rowe in his book Elimination Diets and Patient's Allergies, written in 1941. We are still using his concept to this day. Many healthcare practitioners, even medical doctors, recommend these diets on a routine basis. They too know that IgG tests, as I wrote about previously (insert link), are fraught with errors and are frankly unreliable.

So what does an Elimination Diet entail exactly? As aptly named, this type of diet seeks to eliminate many of the known common allergens (or as they should be more appropriately called, sensitivities) from the diet for a set period of time, usually 3 or 4 weeks. This gives the immune system enough time to calm down, so to speak, and ample time to see a reduction in symptoms. When foods are reintroduced, the symptoms they provoke are typically obvious and more severe than previously experienced. This makes it much easier to pinpoint the culprit foods.

Here are the foods typically eliminated on a basic elimination diet:

Wheat

Gluten

Corn

Soy

Dairy

Nightshades

Eggs

Peanuts

Alcohol

Caffeine

Cane Sugar

Artificial Sweeteners

Other foods eliminated on stricter plans:

Beans, peas, lentils

All seeds and nuts

ALL sugar (including maple syrup, honey, etc)

Beef

Chicken

Pork

Shellfish

Certain chemicals (tyramine, phenylethylamine, nitrates, MSG, etc)

As you can imagine, these diets are clearly no walk in the park. They are typically only suggested for patients that are willing and able to follow the protocol with the strong suggestion that the diet be guided by a trained practitioner. The rigor of the diet can be a hurdle for some, but this can be overcome with proper education, advice, and support. Most of us Dietitians have had training and practice during our schooling and are well qualified to walk patients through the process.

While you know now that elimination diets have been around for some time, you may have noticed they have started to become re-popularized lately, almost faddish in nature. Nowadays there seems to be countless books hitting the shelves talking about anti-inflammatory diet plans and specialized eating plans that claim they will help you shed weight, increase your energy, and even make you look years younger. What do all these diets have in common? They are based on the classic elimination diet!

As noted previously, these diets can be moderately restrictive or very restrictive based on what criteria you follow. That criteria is usually decided upon by you and your practitioner and what foods they seem to think are likely problematic in your particular case. While guided, informed and well-meaning, it's essentially a guessing game. Similarly when you follow the plan put out by some author who has never met you and certainly doesn't know your history or symptoms, it is an even greater guessing game.

And there you have the number one problem with our "gold standard." How in the world do we know what to eliminate and what to leave in? Why are we never recommending someone take out apples, for example, or quinoa, or other "healthy" foods that could be equally problematic. If you are one of the lucky few that reacts to only one or two of the common allergens, then this diet works great for you. Problem solved! I've met these people and the elimination diet has been a miracle. For others, however, it ends up being just another plan that didn't work. Clearly elimination diets can be helpful, but they just aren't the answer for everyone. I know this first hand because elimination diets never worked for me.

As I mentioned previously, there are several authors and experts that are now recommending different elimination diets as the miracle plan to cure your ailments and help you shed stubborn weight. Even Dr. Oz has an elimination diet plan! Knowing what you know now, you can immediately ascertain that this may hold true for a select few. For many, these diets won't address all of the problematic foods and you just spent money on yet another book or wasted weeks of hard work for little reward.

All that being said, I do think elimination diets have their place. I have had clients who were unable or unwilling to spend money on food sensitivity blood testing (the only one I recommend is Mediator Release Testing by Oxford Biomedical) and we successfully found an elimination diet plan that worked for them. This is the minority, however. We guessed and won. That doesn't always happen. Most clients who have already tried everything typically come to find out, through blood testing, that no one figured out they were reacting to random healthy foods (ie fruits, vegetables, gluten-free grains, etc) and therefore they fell through the cracks. There is where elimination diets show their limitations and knowing the right blood test to use is crucial.

The best use of an elimination diet is with a trained medical practitioner, particularly one that knows your entire health history and can help you devise the best diet plan. A book, a TV show, or an online guide is not the way to go. Sure, those avenues have obviously helped some, but a carefully tailored plan is the best option, especially for those with more severe and chronic conditions. Of course blood testing is even better and more targeted if you can find a practitioner, such as myself, offering Mediator Release Testing. Educate yourself on all the options before starting or otherwise all that hard work may be for naught.

Reduce Your High Blood Pressure Naturally

High blood pressure (hypertension) has become a major health concern in today’s stressful fast paced society.  One third of Americans have high blood pressure and as more women have entered the fast paced corporate environment, more women are starting to experience this condition. Actually, about half of those with high blood pressure are not even aware they have the condition.  That’s serious because high blood pressure causes more than 70,000 deaths a year and is directly related to 350,000 additional deaths from stroke.  It is commonly called the "silent killer" because in many cases there are no symptoms.  But it is a serious condition that can increase the potential for heart attack, heart failure, and kidney failure.  It can also cause hardening of the arteries, damage to the heart, and damage to the blood vessels.

So how do we get high blood pressure ?  Over time, our consumption of high fat meals has resulted in clogging of our arteries plus an accumulation of fat.  This condition is caused by a deficiency of calcium, magnesium, and fiber.  Also our propensity for consuming fast foods and our lack of exercise are not helping the situation.

But fast foods are not the only villains. There are other villains like a high sugar diet, grain fed red meat, excessive salt, excessive alcohol, smoking, being around smokers, and too much caffeine.  All these contribute to thickened blood with excessive mucous and waste plus insulin resistance resulting from poor sugar metabolism.

It has been proven through extensive research that people with high blood pressure who make a concerted effort to make healthy lifestyle changes have shown more improvement than their counterparts who relied on blood pressure prescription drugs.  Those who follow a vegetarian diet have fewer high blood pressure issues also.

If the idea of following a vegetarian diet does not appeal to you and you want to avoid prescription drugs, try supplements.  Try Potassium 300mg, garlic (Kyolic Formula 105 2 caps, Hawthorn 510mg x2, Reishi Mushroom 600mg x 2, Olive Leaf Extract 500mg x 2, and Rosemary 400mg x 2.  Start with one and increase by one until you find the right combination.

The ideal blood pressure is 120 over 80.  The 120 is called the systolic and represents the pressure exerted when the heart pumps.  The 80 is called the diastolic and that represents the residual pressure exerted when the heart rests between beats.  A reading of 140 over 90 is classified as hypertension.  If the diastolic (bottom number) goes over 105, severe hypertension is indicated.

When you go the doctor’s office, the standard procedure is for the nurse to check your blood pressure.  So how often do you go to the doctor’s office ?   If you’re a man it’s probably once a year or longer.  A lot can change in a year or two.  Men and women should keep regular tabs on their blood pressure.  Don’t wait for the doctor’s nurse to check it, check it yourself.  Home blood pressure kits can be purchased at your local drug store or even at your local supermarket.  Home blood pressure kits range in price from $20.00 to about $75.00, they are more accurate as the price goes up.

If you elect to purchase the least expensive kit, take it to the doctor’s office the next time you go and compare his reading with you home kit.  Actually testing your blood pressure at home is more reliable than testing at the doctor’s office because people often become anxious when visiting a doctor’s office which would result in a higher than normal reading.  Also driving to the doctor’s office in congested traffic will cause your blood pressure to rise.  When you test yourself at home you are more relaxed and a more accurate reading can be achieved.

A high percentage of high blood pressure cases are preventable without the use of drugs.  A good fat free and low salt diet can be highly effective in controlling high blood pressure.  Also drinking 8-8oz glasses of steam distilled bottle water a day will balance your body salt.  When your body feels dehydrated, it reacts by retaining sodium to reduce any further water loss which starts an endless cycle of craving for salt which your blood pressure and keep it within the acceptable range.
Remember those words, "The Silent Killer".
High blood pressure is an ailment suffered equally by both men and women. There are some ailments, however, that are directed towards more women than men. And some that target women exclusively. I have written an ebook titled Health Springs Eternal, A Holistic Approach To Women's Health Issues. This is a reference book for all women and the men who love them.

Back Pain-Help Is

Back pain, we assume it's caused by an injury, sleeping on a mattress that is old or too soft, or a bad spinal disk.  And as we attempt to eliminate the pain, we naturally channel our attention towards those issues.  But what if there could be another cause of your back pain that did not fall into any of the above categories.  Would you be inclined to check it out ?   If you have tried numerous other remedies with no success, my guess is you probably would.

When pain continues on an ongoing basis, it can usually be traced to a problem with one of the spinal disks. Each disk has a tough outer layer that covers a softinner layer.  If the outer layer deteriorates, the inner layer can herniate outward compressing a nerve root or possibly the spinal cord.  The result is pain or numbness.  About 66% of people who have continuous back pain have a pinched nerve or nerve irritation.

Our everyday activities cause minor stress to our spinal disks and vertebrae continuously.  In order for the spine to recover from this daily wear and tear it needs a good blood supply to bring in much needed oxygen and nutrients to carry away the cellular waste.  This blood supply flows from the lumbar arteries which branch off the aorta as it passes downward from the heart along the spine to the legs.  It seems as if the abdominal aorta is among the first to develop plaque (a blockage of blood flow).   Extensive studies have confirmed that people with a history of back pain have arteries in the lower back that are partially or completely blocked.

So the next question is "can this blockage be reversed without surgery or other invasive procedures"?  And the answer is yes.  That’s the good news.  You know what comes next.  Not the bad news but you may not like it.  So here it is.  You will have to change your eating habits by eliminating all meats,  chicken, pork, and lean beef. All have enough cholesterol and fat to cause blockage.  Fruits, vegetables, plant products, and beans have no cholesterol.

A vegetarian diet eliminates fat and cholesterol from the body, and because of the body’s amazing ability to heal itself, it allows the arteries natural healing process to start cleaning out the accumulated plaque.   Just as it took time for the plaque to accumulate, it will take time for the natural cleansing process to occur.  Be patient and stick with the diet.  You would be surprised at how many tasty dishes fall in that vegetarian category.

In the mean time, for back pain try the herbs Devil’s Claw and White Willow Bark, follow the dosage listed on the bottle. Keep this in mind.  The word vegetarian may sound like a dirty word right now.  But give it a chance.  Improvise on the recipes and stick with it.  You may also want to try meat substitutes.  I have tried several brands and have found some to be quite good.

If you are taking prescription or over the counter drugs on a regular basis, do a Google search to see if back pain is a side effect of that drug.  You will be surprised to see how many drugs have back pain as a side effect.  Your back pain could be solved by simply changing medications.

If nothing has worked, consider the most simple solution of all.  And I speak from personal experience.  I had a continuing problem with lower back pain and nothing I tried had worked until the thought came to me out of the blue.  And that thought was to try a kidney detox.  I drank 64 oz of distilled water every day for 20 days (the length of the detox) abstained from alcohol and coffee, and the pain gradually went away.

One final parting thought.  Our bodies talk to us and we need to listen closely.  When something starts to go wrong it speaks to us in the form of pain or some other form of discomfort.  It’s common knowledge that long term use of prescription drugs have a detrimental effect on our bodies.  If you have been taking the same prescription or over-the-counter drugs for a long time and you are experiencing unexplained pain, it could be your body telling you that it is time for a change.  It could be trying to get your attention by sending you pain signals.  Listen to your body.  A simple whole body detox or kidney detox could possibly be the answer to your problem.
Both men and women experience back pain almost on an equal basis. There are, however, some ailments that target more women than men. And there are some ailments that target women only. I have written a book on that subject titled Health Springs Eternal, A Holistic Approach To Women's Health Issues. This is a book for all women and the men who love them.

Beware of Breakfast? Don’t Let Sugar Sabotage Your Day

Everyone is quick to tell you that "Eating Breakfast Every Day" is a very healthy move. People who don’t eat breakfast are said to have a harder time concentrating, not to mention a harder time not over eating at lunch time. Both of these aspects are beneficial to a healthy lifestyle, but just eating "anything" for breakfast isn’t good enough. Few people realize that breakfast has the potential to be the unhealthiest meal of the day! Bad breakfast choices are all around, sometimes disguised as "good for you" foods. If you want more energy, fat loss, or better health in general, it’s time to get smart about breakfast.

Skipping breakfast is not good for your health.
With so many poor choices of breakfast foods out there, skipping it entirely doesn’t get you off the hook. You may not feel hungry in the morning right away, thanks to the lack of hunger hormones brought on by sleep. Breakfast skippers use this lack of hunger to "power through" the morning on just coffee and no food at all. However, this is a bad move for your blood sugar levels and hydration level for the day. Steady nutrition and steady energy are keys to feeling great, along with keeping your body hydrated. (Caffeinated beverages are a diuretic, they don’t help keep you hydrated)

First, the good:
When you eat a morning meal or snack, you are less likely to want to over-eat at lunch. This can help you lose weight, because you are not tempted to have snacks before lunch or eat a huge meal when lunch time does arrive. It also reduces mid-morning cravings for calorie-dense coffees. Don’t give your body a starvation signal that says "I’m not going to get fed, better start storing fat cells & conserving energy".

A healthy breakfast provides ready energy to help you through your morning. A cup of coffee is not going to help fuel your steady, long-lasting concentration and body-energy levels. You may be able to get ‘hyped up’ on caffeine, but that is not the same as healthy, steady energy. Skip the caffeine or sugar rollercoaster, and stay out of low energy afternoon slumps.

Breakfast is a great opportunity to have high fiber and nutritious food.
Foods commonly eaten in healthy breakfasts are essential to a balanced diet, but are almost never found in other meals of the day. For example, oats, whole grains, yogurt, seeds, and whole eggs. Most people don’t get enough fiber in their diet. Soluble and insoluble fiber is important for colon health, cholesterol health, as well as general probiotic and digestive health. Eggs are a great protein source, as are seeds and nuts Protein can only be used as fuel by the body, it can’t convert it into fats or store it for later. Oats, chia seeds and flax seeds are packed with fiber. However, only the chia seed has 23% complete protein by weight. Fresh fruit has fiber too, & yogurt has both probiotic bacteria to aid digestion, as well as protein and potassium. Healthy breakfast options are all around…but don’t be fooled by some modern "solutions".

Now for the tricky part!
Most people’s excuse for "why can’t I eat breakfast?" is "I don’t have the time". These days, no one is going to stop to make pancakes or omelets in the morning. Several companies have stepped up with ‘instant breakfasts’ that you can just grab out of the cupboard in the morning. On the surface, this is a super idea. It’s better than eating a deep-fried doughnut at work, or grabbing a not-very-nutritious all-white-bread buttery bagel. This can include things like yogurt with toppings, instant oatmeal packets with frosting or flavors, toaster pastries, fruit syrup with toaster pancakes & waffles or fantastically colored marshmallow/ chocolate / sugar frosted cereal. Bad breakfast choices are actually more common than good ones. Part of the problem is caused by so-called "expected" breakfast foods like white flour products (pastries, bagels, donuts, waffles, pancakes, bread) that the body turns into sugars and whole grains that ordinarily taste "boring" and so have to have tons of unhealthy sugar piled on to make them appealing. But what if you could have been eating…A CANDY BAR instead?

No one would think "I’ll have a big chocolate & caramel bar for breakfast, that’s the healthy thing to do!" or "I’ll give my kids a big glass of soda to start their day" but thousands of people pick up ‘easy breakfast items’ that have just as much sugar (and just about as much nutrition) and eat that instead. Whole grain or fruit juice may be on the label, but if the item has the same amount of sugar as a peanut butter caramel candy bar, or a sweetened soft drink, it’s still not going to be good for you. Starting the day off on a pile of sugar isn’t great for your blood sugar balance later on.

What sorts of foods should you watch out for? Anything with "sugar", "cane juice" or "corn syrup" as the first or second ingredient isn’t a good idea. If you look on most packages, you’ll see these are so common as first or 2nd ingredients on the label. This means there’s more sugar in the product than almost anything else. Common culprits include frosted or glazed granola, frosted oat-squares, marshmallow cereal breakfast bars, frosted toaster pastries of all types, and even instant-oatmeal with flavors can be loaded with more sugar than fiber. Yogurt isn’t innocent either. Putting cookie pieces, candy, or fruit in corn syrup into the yogurt isn’t a healthy thing to do. Fruit juice, unless you’re pressing it fresh at home, can also sabotage breakfast time. It often has as much sugar or HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) as a can of soda, the enzymes & some vitamins will have been pasteurized out of it for bottling & 0 fiber from the original fruit will remain.

So what are you supposed to do in the morning?
Easy options include real fresh fruit, like bananas, strawberries, cherries, apples or berries. Most of these are as easy as peel and eat, or chop and eat. Even a handful of tasty raw nuts is better than nothing at all. Whole fruit is better than bottled juice, as it is not pasteurized, leaving the enzymes, vitamins and minerals intact. It’s also full of fiber for a healthy digestive tract, not to mention keeping you feeling full longer. The natural, unrefined sugars distributed throughout the fruit can also give you an energy boost to get your day started right—plus, they taste great.

Smoothies are an excellent solution as well. Whole fruits in endlessly customizable flavor combinations can be prepared the night before, or within minutes on a busy morning. Adding blended fruit with stevia (a sweetener that has 0 calories, is all natural & doesn’t affect blood sugar) to plain, unsweetened yogurt is also a good way to an easy & money saving breakfast that still tastes sweet & appealing. The same thing works with plain, instant oatmeal. You don’t need heaps of sugar when you have fruit and stevia. Cinnamon apple, agave strawberry & so many more combinations are quick and easy in the microwave.

What about feeling full?
Anyone can do a "minute scrambled egg" in the microwave, but what if you feel that won’t tide you over until lunch? A smoothie is great, but it has calories too, it needs to fill you up until the next meal. Fiber keeps you feeling full, so you need an easy way to add more fiber to anything in the morning. Chia seeds are an ideal solution. They have no flavor, so you can mix them into anything you already like to eat. Perfect in yogurt, oatmeal and smoothies, but you can sprinkle them onto eggs as well. Make breakfast last longer & power it up with the protein in chia seeds. Sprinkling or stirring in seeds takes up almost no extra time, and because they don’t taste like anything you won’t even notice they’re there. Don’t just go through your day, power it up by eating right at breakfast time.

The Brain-Keeping It Healthy And Avoiding Potential Problems

The space program has come to an end but we all remember the sight of that very large room called mission control where hundreds of technicians, each with a specific duty to perform from the time of lift-off to touch-down were located. They were the brains of the operation. Well if we were to reduce that room full of specialists and place them inside your head, that would serve as an illustration of how sophisticated your brain is and how essential it is to the normal everyday function of your body.

There is no action you take that does not involve your brain. Your brain is instrumental in all the decisions you make throughout the day and night. It functions well into the sleep process analyzing and processing the events of the day and even contributing to the dream process. It is the foundation of your being. Without it you are a conglomeration of bones and tissue without a purpose. When your brain is functioning at peak efficiency you look good, you feel good, and events in your life seem to function in total harmony. You stick to your diet, you eat healthy, you project a positive persona and command respect and admiration. Your health is excellent, antioxidant activity is working at optimal levels, disease and sickness are nonexistent, and all is right with the world. That’s the good news.

The bad news is a distressed brain will probably lead to a distressed body with wrinkles, disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and a host of other bodily malfunctions. So what causes the brain to become distressed ? Smoking and excessive use of alcohol can have a negative effect on brain health. Extra weight, bad food and beverage choices can all be attributed to your thought processes and the resulting actions you take. Those actions can start a chain reaction contributing to a deeper and more distressed environment

The brain is a seriously sophisticated and complex organ. It weighs only three pounds but can out-perform any computer man has ever made. Your brain weighs only 2% of your total body weight but consumes over 20% of your total blood flow, oxygen, and calories. This magnificent organ is a reflection of who you are, your personality, your character, your intellect, and most importantly, your individuality.

The brain does not have the physical characteristics of a piece of beef, it is actually very soft. The density of your brain is similar to a bowl of jello that is 80% congealed. Since it is such a delicate organ it needs to be encased into a bony area like your skull to protect it from the potential abuse the body takes on a day to day basis. Even encased in the bony skull, it was not meant to take the punishment of 15 rounds of boxing, having soccer balls bounced off it, or the violent collisions on the football field. Brain injuries happen more often than you may think. There are a variety of degrees of brain injuries ranging from a mere bump on the head to blunt force trauma. If your brain is injured, it can affect your entire body.

Since we are all individuals, we often react differently to the same type of injury. Some people who sustain brain injuries often suffer from emotional or behavioral problems sometimes long after the injury. Others may find it difficult to make important decisions like electing to drink excessive amounts of alcohol or insisting on driving while intoxicated. Avoid these and other potentially dangerous situations by keeping your brain healthy and fully functional.
Your body is extremely valuable, it needs to be treated with tender loving care. If you are a woman, or a man who loves a woman, (spouse, lover, or family member,) there's a book you should read. It's titled Health Springs Eternal, A Holistic Approach To Women's health Issues. It's a reference book you'll want to keep handy at all times.

Scientific Test Results Of Omega-3 Supplements Are Amazing

Omega-3 supplements and it's health benefits have been the subject of over 20,000 extensive and detailed studies. As the scientific community continues to uncover new longevity attributes like the reduction of brain shrinkage in the elderly, preventing memory loss, and improving the condition of the inner lining of our blood vessels, they have come to realize how different Omega-3 origins impact the body.

Emerging evidence strongly suggests that Omega-3 ingredients from Fish Oil and Krill Oil produce reciprocal effects upon different cellular areas. Also, research has revealed some very interesting characteristics of cellular life. For example, cellular absorption of Omega-3 fatty acids from both Fish Oil and Krill Oil do not occur at the same rates.

Emerging data strongly suggests that when Krill Oil and Fish Oil are combined, they provide improved cardiovascular health, and improved support to the brain and the nervous system. This is made possible by the varied levels and rates of absorption by Omega-3 Fatty Acids from Fish Oil and Krill Oil.

Brain Health From Omega-3

Brain health should be the number one priority of everyone, male and female, young and older. You can have the physical attributes of an Olympic athlete but if your brain is not functioning properly, all those physical attributes will just be a conglomeration of uncoordinated tissue. Your brain is "mission control" for your body. Keeping it healthy should be number one on your priority list.

The two molecules, DHA and EPA, from Omega-3 fatty acids are well known for their ability to provide orderly benefits throughout the body which can significantly reduce the risk of a premature death.

DHA is essential for early stage brain development and EPA is closely linked to behavioral mood characteristics. The combination of the two provide essential neuroprotective benefits which are essential for the prevention of brain shrinkage due to ones advanced age. Older adults with brain shrinkage often experience depression, memory loss, and cognitive decline.

Research strongly suggests that people with high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids in their blood experience positive brain qualities such as fewer signs of blood flow obstructions and fewer episodes of Dementia.

Those with lower levels of Omega-3 fatty acids are unable to enjoy the attributes of those with higher levels. They have a tendency to have smaller brain volume (shrinkage) and elevated levels of white matter hyperintansity (Leukoaraiosis). This is a condition commonly associated with a higher than normal rate of accelerated brain aging.

Omega-3 fatty acids also have the ability to protect your brain by shielding the primary memory processing area called the Hippocampus. Extensive research has concluded that individuals with low levels of Omega-3 have smaller Hippocampus levels which can potentially lead to impaired memory processing.

Individuals who suffer from Depression frequently experience rapid shrinkage of their Hippocampus. In an effort to reduce shrinkage and ultimately reduce episodes of Depression, significant efforts are being implemented towards increasing new cell growth in that area of the brain. Emerging new evidence indicates the act of increasing Omega-3 DHA intake can possibly be an effective way of treating , or even preventing Depression.
Bone and Joint Health

In the past, a common belief was Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis were the result of insufficient Calcium intake combined with the aging process. Modern research now finds good reason to dispute those theories.

We are now aware of new evidence that indicates bone and joint ailments are partially the result of inflammation. Since Fish Oil and Krill Oil have anti-inflammatory properties, it just makes good sense to use the two Omega-3 oils to combat two of the most common ailments of our senior population.

In studies involving human and laboratory animal subjects, subjecting them to Fish Oil supplementation has resulted in the reduction of Post Menopausal bone loss. This effect can be attributed to the reduction in the number and activity of bone destroying cells which is a direct result of reduced inflammation brought about by increased levels of Omega-3s.

So it seems as if Fish Oil and Krill Oil have shown indisputable evidence of providing significant neuroprotection of vital brain areas from shrinkage due to age. The prevention of Memory Loss, Dementia, and even Depression may also be accomplished by using these Omega-3 oils.

Father Time's aging process is our persistent foe but Mother Nature's holistic inventory is our devoted friend.

Do Diets Really Work

I was reading the paper (The Age, 28/03/12) the other day and stumbled upon an article on weight loss. It said:

"More than 50 years of research confirms that diets have a failure rate of between95 to 98 percent. That's right - of every 100 people who diet, 98 of them will quickly restore any weight they do lose.

According to the US National Institute of Health Technology assessment conference, "(weight-loss) interventions produce short term losses followed by weight gain back, and no present treatments appear capable of producing permanent weight-loss.".

That is a damning evaluation of diet plans! So if where wish to change our body shape, what do we do?

A lot of the diet plans in existence treat food as a mere fuel without any allowance for the pleasures that food may bring. Food is only as an input and the output it produces. This position implies that various kinds of food are identified as great and bad. This food is good fuel. This food is bad fuel. This labelling of foods develops resistance. This food is bad! Those feelings of guilt that you feel as you consume those chips or donuts can effect the method our body takes in the constituents of the food. It implies that our body is not in sympathy with the food we eat. It can just indicate a negative result. That is putting on weight, being the result.

What if we proclaimed:.

"Food is my friend!".

Now we can concentrate on the health and wellbeing that food we consume promotes. This health and wellbeing can include the pleasure food brings us (how great is a donut to consume?) along with nutrition. This enjoyment of consuming is often peoples failure in weight-loss due to the fact that it can feel great however the outcome is depressing.

If we accept there is a divine force, life force, life energy or supreme being, then it opens the possibility to treat your body as more than simply a device. It enables us to make use of the magnificent law of destination in developing the body we desire. The law of destination informs us that "like brings in like". For that reason if we think a food is bad we will certainly draw in the things that we are afraid most! That is, weight gain. So when you next sit down to eat, consciously focus on the sensation you have about this food. It's very likely that the feeling is negative.

If the food is exactly what we would identify "bad" you will most likely have a grating, negative sensation.

If the food is exactly what we would call "good" the feelings possibly more favorable, but you might have resentment because you feel you have to eat this kind of food to keep your body.

It is successfully a fight against food, when it needs to be identified that food is needed for our wellbeing.

So if you have these kind of sensations attempt:.

"Food is my friend!".

"Designer Bodies" is a program that makes use of the Law of Destination to develop the body we desire. Our "Designer Body".

Designer Bodies intends to completely alter our sensations and feelings about food and our bodies to develop the body you want. Your "Designer Body.".

Indulging In Forbidden Pleasures

Scientific and medical findings show that the use of a treatment called oral immunotherapy might just be the permanent end to all food allergies!

Allergies have been one of the leading causes of death in the nation for hundreds of years. If you look closely, every restaurant or cafeteria, deli or bakery must now legally have a sign regarding food allergies and stating the use of any soy, dairy or wheat products in the facility. This could easily be a result of the fact that every three minutes, a person experiences a severe or life-threatening event regarding an allergic reaction to something they ingested or touched. Luckily with the help of many medical assistants, administrators and alums, we have gotten one step closer to finding an end to what could easily be considered a large problem in the lives of millions of children, adults and elders. Can you imagine what it must be like to have to go an entire lifetime without knowing what a strawberry tastes like? Or what about never being able to even touch milk?! Being allergic to certain foods can not only result as a deadly situation, but can also make the individual feel deprived and underprivileged.

Oral immunotherapy is an innovative and experimental way to find out if a person could indeed become immune to certain allergens such as peanuts or dairy products. This treatment is made effective by using the help of phlebotomists to draw blood from the affected individual and determine the potency of their immune system. Later, the person receives a series of injections to lower immunity responses. Doing so allows victims of such life threatening allergies to be able to consume the very same foods that could potentially take their lives. Over a given amount of time, the individual will continue to receive the injections and as they continue to ingest these dangerous foods, their bodies begin to tolerate larger and larger doses of it.

It is truly incredible to witness what these treatments can do for an individual who has spent most of their lives wondering what it would be like to finally try something as common as ice cream without potentially losing their lives. Of course, as all life changing events do, these treatments do involve a certain level of potential risk. Because the word cure typically dictates a lifetime of immunity to foods that were once life-threatening, scientists and clinical researchers choose not to claim these treatments as cures just yet, but we are almost there! In a couple of years, medical technology could give us answers not only to ways in which to stop allergic reactions, but also answers as to why these allergic reactions are occurring more and more frequently each day!

How To Eat Clean While Eating Gluten-Free

Clean eating is a lifestyle from the 1960's that revolves around eating whole foods that are minimally processed or refined. It sounds easy doesn't it? Sadly so much of our food now is overly processed or handled that adopting this lifestyle can take some work. However, if you must eat gluten-free clean eating can be a natural progression.

Clearly you must avoid processed foods along with preservatives, artificial ingredients, trans fats and chemicals. Add more dishes that include raw and fresh fruit and vegetables. Base your diet around vegetables, fruits and gluten-free grains, beans, legumes, lean or vegetarian proteins and fats. Add unprocessed nuts to salads and use them as snacks.

With clean eating you don't try to eat less… you strive to eat more. Eat three full meals and at least two snacks a day. The goal is to keep yourself full of healthy, clean and gluten-free food so that you keep your energy level throughout the day.

Choose organic food as much as you can find and afford. Go to farmer's markets on the weekend and look for fruit and vegetables that is grown without pesticides. Be brave and add new fruits and vegetables to your diet as often as possible.

Ditch refined sugar by eliminating soda, candy, baked goods and ice cream. Use honey or maple syrup in recipes where sugar is included. If you must use artificial sweeteners choose a product with stevia in it.

Drink water all day long while avoiding fruit juices, soda, sweetened coffee drinks. You can also drink tea, coffee and milk but minimize how much coffee drink. Reduce or eliminate alcohol.

You already know that you have to pack your own meals for work but also consider taking your own food to gatherings or eat before you leave. Avoid fast food and fried food. If you must eat on the go without packing a meal then go for a salad and ask for no croutons and use an oil and vinegar dressing.

Try keeping snacks on hand that fit both your gluten-free and clean eating lifestyle and are easy to eat. Some of our favorites are bananas, nuts, hard boiled or deviled eggs, bell pepper slices, carrots, apples and celery with nut butter, popcorn, pumpkin seeds, Edamame, roasted chick peas and tuna packed in sunflower oil or water.

To optimize your gluten-free clean diet start exercising every day. If you are out of shape start by adding walking to your day and move up to more vigorous exercise when you are ready. As always consult your physician before making any dietary or exercise related changes in your life.

How To Travel Gluten-Free

If you are gluten sensitive or have Celiac Disease then you know how difficult it is to manage your condition under normal circumstances. Add to that a schedule that includes travel and things can get out of hand. No matter how you travel or where you go follow these tips to eat gluten-free on the road.

* Use a travel agent to plan your gluten-free trip. There are many options including guided travel with guides who share your condition. Research all of your destinations in advance to find gluten-free restaurants.

* Ask your doctor to give you a letter explaining your diagnosis and dietary needs. If flying mark all your food as gluten-free by adding labels or writing on bags.

* Start by notifying your hotel, airline, cruise line or train company about your dietary needs. In addition to asking about gluten-free options ask how food is prepared so you can avoid cross-contamination.

* Pack your own non-perishable food. Make sure you have enough snacks like gluten-free trail mix, packages of tuna fish, dried fruit, cookies, chips and fresh fruit. Make sure you have enough of your own food to eat when you can't eat gluten-free.

* Many airlines offer gluten-free options for meals that you can purchase. The standard airline code "GFML" is used to designate gluten-free meals. You must order these meals in advance and make sure that is what you receive while in the air.

* Take your gluten-free supplements and medication with you. Don't pack them in your suitcase in case it takes a side trip without you! Keep them in your purse, briefcase or carry-on bag.

* Take a list of gluten-free food with you or download one of the many apps available for your cell phone or tablet. If you are traveling to a foreign country buy the list in the language of your destination.

* Research restaurants at your destination online first and then call to verify the information you found. Ask to speak to a manager when call. Double check everything with the staff when you arrive.

* If you must stay in a hotel or as a guest in someone's home be sure keep in mind that you will not be able to use certain kitchen appliances like a toaster or toaster oven to avoid cross-contamination. If you do not have a mini fridge ask for one.

* Consider taking your own cooking utensils, knives, bowls and cutting board with you when you travel. If you fly the utensils and knives must be stowed away in your checked baggage.

* If you need more help getting ready to make your gluten-free travel work for you make an appointment with a Registered Dietitian who has experience working with this challenging diet.

With a few precautions and advance planning traveling around the world can still be fun, educational and safe for your entire family.
